Financial Officer (accounting and payroll)

Your new company Our client is a well‑established general contractor in the Greater Montreal area, recognized for delivering high‑quality residential and commercial renovation projects. With roughly 60 employees, they operate a vertically integrated model — managing everything from demolition to finishing with strong in‑house field teams.
The company has grown significantly in recent years and continues to expand, supported by a steady stream of projects and a strong reputation in the market.
As the new Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day accounting function across multiple business units. You will oversee all core operational accounting activities, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and support the ongoing evolution of systems and processes as the company scales.
Full oversight of operational accounting for construction and related real estate entities
Cash flow management and banking relationships
Review of POs, AP/AR, and job cost controls
Payroll review (including CCQ)
Coordination with the external CPA firm
Providing leadership and structure to a small but capable accounting team
Supporting continuous improvement as the company enhances its systems and internal processes
This is a hands‑on, operational role where you will be the central point of accountability for the finance function.
Strong understanding of operational accounting, job costing, and cash flow
Ability to work fully on‑site
Bilingualism an asset
