Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. We’re looking for an In-House Legal Counsel II to join our growing team!

Draft opinions, pleadings, affidavits and other legal documents to support applications, mediation briefs and pre-trial memoranda.

Prepare and present legal educational seminars to the claims department.

Maintain productive and effective communications with the claims department and adjusters.

as well as hearings before administrative tribunals.

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.

Current member of Alberta Law Society.

Minimum of five to seven years of insurance litigation experience.

Experience in the following practice areas would be considered an asset: construction, commercial general liability, specialty lines, auto/transportation, long haul trucking, E&O, D&O, employment, subrogation.

Expertise in drafting pleadings, reviewing and assessing voluminous production, conducting discoveries, and trials/arbitration.

Proficiency in technologies, tools, and software programs to optimize operational efficiency and decision making, including but not limited to iManage, Citrix, ACL, Nuance, Generative AI and the Microsoft Office package of programs.
