Senior Transportation Planning Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Transportation Planning Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in budget and workforce planning; and;
- Conducts regular meetings with stakeholder groups and communicates and liaises with the public to discuss transportation solutions;
- Analyzes, prioritizes, and implements transportation planning projects over a current (5 year), and long-range (30+ year) planning horizon;
- Reviews City and area-specific transportation context to inform current and long-range planning decisions;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
- Interprets City and Transportation policy, goals, and department requirements for internal stakeholders, developers, consultants, and the public.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of City bylaws, transportation policies, infrastructure development processes, and development review processes;
- Proven ability to speak effectively in public through formal and informal meetings and presentations;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills;
- Proficient in the use of software applications and databases;
- Proven ability to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships at all levels in the organization and external stakeholders;
- Proven ability to write effectively, organize, and maintain project documentation, prepare status reports and summaries;
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, engage, and mentor staff;
- Proven ability to research, analyze, estimate, and present recommendations for a variety of engineering projects;
- Proven ability to be proactive and responsive when resolving enquiries from the public and stakeholders; and;
- Extensive knowledge of civil engineering practices, principles, and techniques related to transportation planning.
