Senior Transportation Design Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Transportation Design Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares terms of reference for technical consulting services related to transportation design, analysis, and construction;
- Represent the City in public engagement processes, including attendance at weekend and evening meetings and workshops;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
- Contract administration and management of technical consultants retained to support the planning, design, and analysis of transportation designs;
- Works with project managers to develop, monitor, and manage project work plans (scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, resources);
- Prepare and make presentations to Council and Committees of the Whole, and advisory committees to Council; and;
- Works with other internal design teams (water, sewer, utilities, streets, etc.) to coordinate integrated designs.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational and time management skills including a demonstrated ability to manage high profile projects and set/meet competing deadlines;
- Demonstrated ability to take on a leadership role and is proactive at resolving project conflicts in a timely and effective manner;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Experience with the municipal development approvals process is an asset;
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, engage, and mentor staff;
- Understanding of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and the importance of intersectionally in transportation projects; and;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage project and program budgets;
- Proven ability to influence others while respecting the sensitive and political challenges that impact decisions;
- Familiarity with the City’s transportation network, design priorities and guidelines, as well as international design guidelines and practices.
