General Farm Worker Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a General Farm Worker to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Informing farmers or farm manager of crop progress;
- To monitor irrigation and the soil moisture as per crop requirements;
- Set and Monitor the water pipelines;
- Examine produce quality and quantity and prepare it for market;
- Plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, irrigate and harvest;
- Maintain irrigation ditches clear and well maintained;
- Set up and operate irrigation equipment and monitor water lines;
- Plant, grow and harvest in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring productivity and quality goals are met or exceeded;
- Care for plants as advised and assigned by the supervisor including planting, picking and weeding;
- Repair and paints sheds, barns and fences;
- Keeps and checks record on morality of the ostriches and other animals;
- Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungi, and weeds;
- Spraying and fertilizing, detecting disease and other problems in crops;
- Operating & maintaining farm machinery & equipment;
- Perform other general duties on the farm as required.
Requirements:
- Put cartoons on each plant roots by hand for protection from sprays;
- Keep record of sprays for the good quality;
- Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops;
- Examine produce for quality and prepare for market;
- Monitor for the adequate water supply for the newly plantations daily;
- Assist other farm workers in tasks such as picking, sorting, packaging grapes;
- Cut surrounding overgrown trees to extend plantation;
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. of weight and work in sun, rain, heat, cold, weekends if required;
- Fertilize, spray and harvest crops;
- Basic farm knowledge, familiarity with farm equipment and machinery will be an asset.
