Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Oracle Retail Data Migration Expert with extensive experience in leading enterprise-scale retail data migration initiatives within Oracle Retail implementations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, executing, and validating end-to-end data migration activities, ensuring the successful transition of high-quality business data from legacy systems into Oracle Retail solutions.
This role requires deep expertise in Oracle Retail data structures, retail business processes, ETL methodologies, data quality management, and migration best practices. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, functional consultants, solution architects, technical teams, and system integrators to ensure accurate, complete, and timely data migration throughout the implementation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Migration Strategy: Develop and execute the overall data migration strategy, including migration planning, governance, sequencing, risk management, and cutover activities aligned with the Oracle Retail implementation roadmap.
- Data Discovery & Assessment: Analyze legacy retail systems to assess data quality, completeness, business rules, dependencies, and migration readiness while identifying data cleansing opportunities.
- Data Mapping: Define and document detailed source-to-target data mappings across Oracle Retail applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements and Oracle Retail data models.
- Data Cleansing & Quality: Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify duplicate, obsolete, or inaccurate data and establish cleansing rules to enhance overall data quality prior to migration.
- ETL & Data Transformation: Work with technical teams to design, develop, and validate ETL processes for extracting, transforming, and loading data into Oracle Retail applications.
- Migration Execution: Coordinate and execute multiple mock conversions, dress rehearsals, production migrations, and post-load validation activities while ensuring minimal business disruption.
- Data Validation & Reconciliation: Develop reconciliation processes to validate migrated data, including item masters, inventory balances, pricing, suppliers, purchase orders, and financial data to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Pricing, Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Store Operations, Finance, and IT teams to validate migrated data and resolve migration issues.
- End-to-End Implementation: Engage throughout the Oracle Retail implementation lifecycle, including solution design, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), cutover planning, go-live, and hypercare support.
- Documentation: Prepare migration strategies, data mapping documents, migration runbooks, validation reports, reconciliation reports, cutover plans, and migration governance documentation.
- Deployment Support: Assist in production deployment activities, monitor migration execution, troubleshoot migration issues, coordinate rollback planning, and provide hypercare support following go-live.
- Retail Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of retail operations and business processes, including Merchandising, Pricing & Promotions, Inventory Management, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Order Management.
- Oracle Retail Expertise: Extensive experience working with Oracle Retail applications including RMS, ReSA, RPM, SIM/SIOCS, Xstore POS, OMS, Customer Engagement, and other Oracle Retail solutions.
- Data Migration: Proven experience leading enterprise-scale data migration initiatives, including data profiling, cleansing, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and production cutover.
- Data Management: Strong understanding of master data management principles, data governance, reference data, data quality management, and data lifecycle best practices.
- ETL & Database Technologies: Experience with ETL tools and database technologies such as Oracle Data Integrator, Informatica, Talend, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Database, and related migration utilities.
- Technical Tools: Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Visio, SQL Developer, and data analysis tools.
- Integration & Architecture: Experience with Oracle Retail Integration Bus, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, APIs, microservices architecture, and enterprise integration patterns is preferred.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify data issues and implement practical solutions.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage business stakeholders, technical teams, system integrators, and executive leadership throughout migration activities.
- Global Teams: Experience working effectively within global, cross-functional, and distributed implementation teams.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
- Oracle Retail, Oracle Database, Oracle Cloud, or Data Management certifications are considered a major plus.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience leading Oracle Retail data migration workstreams during full lifecycle implementations or upgrades.
- Experience migrating data from legacy retail merchandising, ERP, POS, warehouse management, and order management systems into Oracle Retail.
- Experience executing multiple mock conversions, production cutovers, and post-migration reconciliation activities.
- Prior experience working with system integrators or large retail organizations.
- Exposure to fast-paced omnichannel retail environments.
