Senior Locum Officer (12-month contract) - Internal Only

OPPORTUNITY (INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY):

HEABC has an opportunity for a temporary, 12-month contract, for a Senior Locum Officer. Reporting to the Team Lead, Locums for Rural BC (LRBC), the Senior Locum Officer provides specialized locum related physician support services. The Senior Locum Officer is responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, and participating in a wide range of recruitment, retention and program administration related activities.

Responsibilities:

• Receives, screens, fills, and confirms requests for host physician vacancies, supplemental contracts, and locum placements for the LRBC Programs.


• Contacts the host physicians to clarify the specific requirements of the locum coverage requested including the dates of locum coverage desired.


• Facilitates the referral process with communication between the rural host physician and the potential locum, provides clear explanations of the LRBC rules, policies and customary practices.


• Provides concierge services to locum physicians’ which includes advice, assistance and travel bookings.


• Updates and maintains member accounts and vacancy information in the LRBC databases, and develops and maintains accurate filing systems.


• Responds to LRBC enquiries from locum candidates, host physicians, health authorities, and Ministry of Health.


• Facilitates completion of a formal written agreement between the rural host physician and the locum outlining job requirements for each assignment.


• Completes projects and provides reports, as assigned, by the Team Lead, LRBC or other leaders in the department, as needed.


• Acts as a subject matter expert, advising on, and addressing, both routine and non-routine issues. Escalates or reports issues requiring higher-level resolution to the Program Manager, LRBC.


• Obtains, prepares, processes and reviews the required documentation for locum assignments to facilitate timely payment for the locum and for the rural host physician.


• Assists in the training of staff and management system users (internal and external), by developing and maintaining training materials and providing training sessions.


• Provides coverage/relief to the Associate Consultant and Locum Officer roles, as needed.


• Assists the program leadership in making recommendations to improve relevant sourcing and marketing strategies.

Required Experience and Education:

• Successful completion of a three-year post-secondary program in a related discipline such as business administration or human resources and five (5) years’ recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (preferably in health care and/or hospitality).


• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Ms. Office.


• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.


• Excellent communication skills, written and oral, including demonstration of tact, discretion, confidentiality and patience.


• Ability to coordinate demanding workloads and meet deadlines as required.


• Strong interpersonal skills, including flexibility and the ability to work in a team environment.


• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.


• Ability and willingness to travel when required.

Salary Range: $62,239 to $79,589

Typical Hiring Range: $62,239 to $77,799

In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
