The Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, the national voice of the community housing sector, is recruiting a Finance and Operations Manager .

Finance and Operations Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: 35 hours per week (compressed or reduced hours can be negotiated)

Compensation: 2026 starting wage $60,000 to $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Maximum wage $82,417.

Benefits: 1.25 days paid vacation per month; Reduced work week in July & August with Fridays off; 2 paid sick days/month

Location: CHRA offers a hybrid work environment, with the possibility of remote work from anywhere in Canada.

The Canadian Housing and Renewal Association (CHRA) leads and provokes system-wide action toward the right to housing for all by serving as the national voice of the community housing sector. We create the conditions for community housing providers across the country to achieve their goals and drive change.

Our members include non-market community housing providers, Indigenous housing providers, municipalities, non-profit organizations, housing associations, businesses, and individuals from every region of Canada.

Responsibilities

Finance

• Reconcile monthly credit card statements, save, code and collate supporting documentation.
• Act as key point of contact for external auditors and external bookkeepers.
• Maintain accurate accounts receivable and accounts payable records, and ensure all transactions are accurately coded by program and funding source according to internal budget.
• Use QuickBooks Online to issue ad-hoc invoices and generate monthly or quarterly reports as required by management or the Board of Directors.
• Keep track of bank account and cheque payments, align incoming payments on CRM for events and memberships.
• Monitor the generic invoices inbox.
• Assist in quarterly and annual budget planning with the Executive Director.
• Review, verify, and process employee and Board expense reimbursement claims in accordance with organizational policies.

Office Management

• Develop, implement, and improve operational policies, procedures, and workflows to enhance organizational effectiveness.
• Maintain the SharePoint filing system and act in administrator capacity to manage all licenses for staff.
• Provide operational support for conferences, webinars, meetings, and other organizational events.
• Oversee overall office administration including liaising with key suppliers and service providers.
• Act as main point of contact for phone, information technology and office systems suppliers and contractors.

Governance

• Organize the agenda package and arrange Board of Directors meetings and Finance Committee meetings, recording minutes as required.
• Assist with Board of Directors election process.
• Organize the online Annual General Meeting, mailings, logistics, meeting materials and meeting support.

Support to the Executive Director

• In the Executive Director’s absence, assume any follow-up as required, including triaging and prioritizing issues and determining appropriate actions.
• Assist the Executive Director in planning and scheduling board and committee meetings and meetings with outside stakeholders.
• Assist the Executive Director in planning and scheduling staff retreats.

Assistance to the CHRA staff team

• Provide support to staff as needed, including general administrative functions, as well as event and membership query support.
• Respond to general enquiries and act as back-up for other staff members in their absence.
• Perform other tasks as requested by the Executive Director and other senior staff members.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing finance, operations, administration, or organizational services
• Experience supporting Boards of Directors and senior leadership.
• Experience using CRM/AMS platforms and financial management systems (QBO or similar)
• Strong English communication skills, including writing and verbal skills.
• Highly organized and offers exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, strong relationship management, with a high level of professionalism.
• Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.

Additional Assets

• Experience working within a non-profit, association, or similar environment.
• Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Management or equivalent
• Bilingualism in English and French
