What will your typical day look like?

 

As an Intern on our Investigations & Disputes team, you will:

 

• Work on client engagement teams executing on projects, supporting key decision-makers in developing and executing deliverables;
• Analyze financial data and other relevant information related to business operations and allegations of financial crime
• Identify issues and recommend solutions to project teams
• Generate insights from analysis from different types of data
• Contribute to presentation materials, reports and schedules for client engagements;
• Prioritize objectives and contribute to project planning and status reporting;
• Actively focus on developing effective communication and relationship-building skills;
• Work in a collaborative team environment and learn from subject matter experts through mentoring and on the job coaching; and
• Be empowered to lead and have an impact with clients, our communities and in the office.

About the team

 

Deloitte’s Investigations & Disputes team specializes in providing independent assessments of economic losses by performing financial analysis and utilizing accounting and business valuation techniques. The team also supports financial crime investigations involving fraud, corruption, financial misconduct, misappropriation of assets, and other regulatory matters.

We differentiate ourselves through the breadth and depth of our experience, as well as our deployment and application of technology accelerators and data analytics. Our goal is to make the complex simple, leading the way to successful dispute resolution.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

 

In this role, you are someone who is/has: 

 

• Working towards completing a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, mathematics, business administration, or a related field. Candidates pursuing their CPA designation are preferred.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including experience in conducting research, synthesizing data, writing reports, and preparing presentations. Fluency in French is required for those candidates applying to join our offices in Quebec and an asset for Ottawa based candidates.
• An aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as financial analysis or modeling, market research and analysis, project problem diagnosis, and solution development.
• Detail oriented with proven analytical skills and systematic problem-solving abilities (experience with SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools is not required but considered an asset).
• A self-starter, highly organized, and an excellent communicator and relationship builder.
• Curious and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Strong interpersonal skills and is able to work as part of a team.
• Willing and able to travel in Canada, as required.

 

Quebec Location : We require basic English language skills to meet the needs of our clients. In the context of mandates, you could work for clients with activities outside of Quebec and where the first language is English

 

Ottawa Location: Employees in the Ottawa Strategy Risk and Transactions practice will be required to obtain “reliability” and/or “Secret” level federal security clearances as a condition of their employment. To be eligible for a "Reliability" status you must have resided in Canada for the last five (5) years and for "Secret" level, the last ten (10) years. 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $40,000.00 - $60,000.00, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
