SUMMARY

The position is responsible for developing and coordinating a variety of communications materials, including but not limited to communications plans, key messages, industry newsletters, news releases and social media and website content. This position plays an integral role in ensuring consistency across the organization and maintaining a high quality of communications for both external and internal audiences.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Liaises with teams across the organization to understand their communications needs, implements communications strategies and plans and produces content for regulated entities, consumers, social media, the news media, and the public.
• Reviews internal and external communications, including regulatory instruments, website copy, and email/newsletter content for regulated entities, to ensure content adheres to BCFSA’s style and brand.
• Manages the corporate communications planning tool and calendar, keeping managers and project leads informed of communication deliverables and timelines.
• Develops articles, news releases, social media content, and media pitches to disseminate information to news media outlets and the public; responds to media inquiries and coordinates interviews.
• Writes copy for owned, earned, and paid media channels – including the Intranet - to enhance brand visibility, drive audience engagement, and achieve strategic communication goals.
• Monitors media coverage and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to enhance communication strategies.
• Provides feedback to project teams, subject matter experts, and writers to help them streamline and clarify their communications.
• Boosts brand awareness and visibility through content development, considering keyword research, audience engagement, and increased search engine optimization.

• Between three to five years of experience in a communications role responsible for developing and coordinating a variety of communications materials, including but not limited to communications plans, key messages, news releases, and social media and website content.
• Between three to five years of copywriting and editing experience, with a proven track record of editing material.
• A background in journalism, media relations, or public relations. Experience in financial services, or in a regulatory environment is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of CP style, familiarity with accessibility standards, and meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Prior experience managing and leading communication programs and projects.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
