Mining Strategic Account Manager - British Columbia & Yukon

Opportunity

The Mining Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with mine operators, mining contractors, engineering firms, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout British Columbia and the Yukon. This role serves as Wajax's mining industry expert within the territory, driving equipment and technology sales growth through deep understanding of surface mining operations, capital projects, fleet management, and mine development activities.

The Role

• Grow mining industry revenues through strategic account management and business development activities across British Columbia and the Yukon.
• Develop executive-level relationships with mine operators, engineering teams, maintenance managers, procurement groups, project managers, and mining contractors.
• Act as the primary mining industry resource for Wajax, providing market intelligence and operational insights.
• Maintain awareness of existing and emerging mining projects throughout the territory.
• Lead customer engagement activities related to fleet replacement, mine expansion, equipment modernization, and technology implementation initiatives.
• Support RFQ, RFP, tender responses, proposals, and technical presentations.
• Collaborate with Hitachi Construction Machinery, Wenco, Bradken, and other technology and OEM partners.
• Represent Wajax at industry events and maintain active participation in mining associations.

The Candidate

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of mining industry experience, preferably supporting or working within large-scale surface mining operations, mine development projects, or mining equipment organizations.
• Experience working with mine operators, mining contractors, EPCM firms, engineering consultants, or mining equipment manufacturers.
• Strong understanding of surface mining equipment applications, production operations, fleet management, maintenance practices, and capital project development.
• Proven ability to develop strategic relationships within the mining sector.
• Experience managing large, complex mining accounts and projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of business growth.
• Valid Driver License and acceptable Driver Abstract.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Commerce, or related discipline.
• Experience with large mining fleets including hydraulic excavators, haul trucks, wheel loaders, dozers, and supporting mining technologies.
• Existing network of contacts within the British Columbia and Yukon mining industry.
• Knowledge of mine development, feasibility studies, EPCM processes, and capital project execution.

Working Conditions:

• Extensive travel throughout British Columbia and Yukon (50-60%).
• Regular surface mine-site visits in remote locations.
• Occasional travel within Canada, the United States, and internationally.
• Home-office based within British Columbia.

Compensation:

Base pay $135k-165k per annum plus commission and Annual Incentive Bonus . Pay may vary based on skills, expertise, and performance, and is a component of the total rewards package.
