Hotel Security Officer

Job Responsibility:

The selected candidate will be responsible for enforcing policies and procedures relating to the safety and security of people and property, keeping an eye on building entrances and exits as well as building grounds, reporting violations, fire, accidents, theft, and vandalism, and helping with other day-to-day security issues. Providing assistance in cases of medical or other emergencies. Working as part of a team to defuse conflict while ensuring safety of guests, staff and property. Providing customer service to internal and external parties. Preparing accurate, complete, and legible reports on shift activities. Handling other related tasks as required, to provide a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor building entrances and exits, conduct regular and lengthy security check patrols, and respond to security and safety incidents.
• Ensure all security processes are followed and integrity is maintained
• Document any issues in the daily security logs and make security reports.
• Respond to questions, inquiries, and problems concerning security issues. or general questions from guests
• Assist with security risk assessments
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with other staff members and ensure a safe and secure work environment.

Who You Are

• An individual who is always alert and aware of the surroundings.
• Experienced in security and providing customer service would be preferred.
• Experienced with deescalating tense and potentially violent situations would be preferred
• An effective communicator who can collaborate with multiple people within the hotel
• Knowledge of the Indigenous culture and history is also an asset.

Requirements

• Completion of High School or general education degree (GED)
• Education or previous experience as a Law Enforcement or Security Officer or other related security employment is an asset
• Knowledge of CCTV, card access systems and applicable laws and regulations related to security services is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and is a highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
• Ability to function effectively in stressful and/or critical situations
• Customer service/team-oriented individual who is assertive, reliable and discrete with a high level of awareness
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
