Doctors Manitoba is seeking an experienced Physician Health Services and Peer Support Coordinator to provide day-to-day operational support for the clinical physician health program and strengthen physician and medical learner peer support capacity across Manitoba. This role will partner with committed organizations and departments to develop and implement physician and medical learner peer support initiatives.

Physician Health Services and Peer Support Coordinator Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support to the clinical physician health program. This includes intake coverage during the work week, preparation and coordination of the intake schedule, triaging requests, EMR support and training, development of policies and procedures, and program evaluation.
• Develop and coordinate policies and training to ensure compliance with PHIA and privacy officer obligations.
• Provide short-term counselling as needed to DRMB members and their families.
• Develop and implement individual, family, and group-based therapeutic interventions designed to support physician and medical learner wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards, PHIA requirements, and program policies.
• Develop and coordinate all aspects of the Physician Peer Support Program, including organizational, informal and group-based peer support initiatives; program development and evaluation, developing and facilitating educational/academic sessions: and working with external partners throughout the province including the University of Manitoba, RHAs, health system, and clinic leaders.
• Develop and maintain expertise in physician peer support evidence and best-practice.
• Assist with recruitment and provide support to physician peer support coordinators, physician peer supporters, and peer support group facilitators throughout Manitoba.
• Support Doctors Manitoba members involved with peer support and physician health and wellness initiatives or special projects by providing exceptional and timely customer service.
• Develop and implement program evaluation tools for all peer support initiatives.
• Coordinate physician health network.
• Maintain accurate program data and resolve issues as they arise.
• Coordinate the development, research, and writing of policy and position papers.
• Support additional programming related to physician health, physician leadership, equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, and mentorship.
• Develop program efficiencies and enhancements based on direction from the strategic and brand plan.
• Develop and facilitate workshops and training programs.
• Provide input on organizational strategies and operational plans, and assist in implementing new ideas and initiatives.
• Provide input and assist with evaluation, quality improvement, risk management, and business continuity planning activities.

Requirements

Education

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post-secondary education, or an equivalent combination of experience and knowledge, in health promotion, program and project management, and physician health and wellness.
• Registration and good standing with the appropriate regulatory body in Manitoba, where applicable.

Qualifications include:

• 3 – 5 years of experience as program coordinator/leader or relevant position.
• Experience providing individual, family, and/or group counselling or psychotherapy.
• Knowledge and experience with program management and development procedures/processes.
• Knowledge and experience utilizing adult education principles.
• Knowledge and experience with budgeting and reporting.
• Tech savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to work positively with diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated strengths in critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, attention to detail, leadership, verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of workplace psychological health and safety standards, physician health and wellness, and organizational change.
• Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.

Work Environment

Typical working conditions include daytime hours and occasional weekend and evening work.
