Scientist II/Senior Scientist

AbCellera seeks an experienced Scientist II or Senior Scientist to develop and optimize separation science analytical methods for monoclonal antibody characterization and CMC support. The role involves hands-on method development, data generation, technology evaluation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance early-phase antibody programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize separation-based analytical methods for release testing and product characterization activities
• Generate high-quality experimental data supporting method development, qualification, and CMC characterization efforts
• Establish laboratory workflows and best practices for the Analytical Development Separation Sciences function
• Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance throughput, accuracy, precision, and overall method quality
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to separation science team members

Requirements

• PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, or related field plus 2-5 years industry experience (Scientist II) or 5+ years (Senior Scientist); MSc with substantial relevant experience considered
• Hands-on experience developing analytical methods including SEC, RP-LC, CE, and icIEF techniques
• Demonstrated expertise in therapeutic protein characterization and biophysical analytics with focus on separation technologies
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for monoclonal antibodies including FDA, EMA, ICH guidelines and CMC activities
• Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Benchling) and data capture systems (e.g., Empower) with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance understanding
• Strong communication and mentoring capabilities with ability to guide junior scientists
• Understanding of regulatory pathways such as CTAs, INDs, BLAs, and IMPDs
