Location:Saskatchewan Mining Operations

Work Schedule:9/80 Schedule

Position Type:Full-Time, Permanent (Reporting to the Hoist Maintenance Manager)

Are you a seasoned technical expert ready to take ownership of world-class hoisting infrastructure? A premier leader in the North American mining sector is seeking a Hoist Engineer to provide engineering oversight and lifecycle management for their deep underground potash operations. This is an exceptional, permanent opportunity to drive safety, reliability, and modernization on high-impact friction and double-drum hoisting systems within a stable, growth-oriented organization.

PERKS AND BENEFITS:

  • Work-Life Balance:Highly desirable 9/80 work schedule, giving you a 3-day weekend every other week.

  • A Competitive Total Rewards Package:Includes a top-tier base salary, performance-driven bonus incentives, and generous paid time off.

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage:Fully paid medical and dental benefits starting from day one.

  • Career Advancement & Stability:Join a growing, industry-leading organization with clear paths for long-term professional growth and technical leadership.

  • Tight-Knit Culture:Work alongside strong, supportive leadership in a collaborative and safety-first engineering environment.

  • Social Responsibility:Participate in corporate initiatives with paid time off to volunteer and give back to the community.

  • Rewards for Excellence:Opportunities to qualify for the Winner’s Circle– an annual incentive trip for top performers at TPD.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Providing Technical Authority:Lead the engineering support, design reviews, and lifecycle management for production and service hoisting systems, focusing on drum and friction (Koepe) hoists.

  • Ensuring System Reliability:Oversee the technical integrity of conveyances (skips, cages, counterweights), wire ropes, attachments, braking systems, and controls under corrosive potash conditions.

  • Driving Compliance & Maintenance:Partner with Maintenance and Operations to execute statutory inspections, NDT, and rope testing programs, while spearheading root cause analysis (RCA) and capital projects for hoist modernizations or upgrades.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Deep Hoisting Expertise:Your 10-20 years of progressive experience in underground mining—specifically with friction and double-drum hoists—will establish you as the go-to technical expert for the site.

  • Specialized Technical Knowledge:Bring your deep understanding of wire rope selection, installation, testing, and retirement criteria, as well as complex hoist braking and control philosophies.

  • Regulatory & Technical Credibility:Bring your Professional Engineer (P.Eng. / PE) designation and strong familiarity with mining regulations to act as the primary technical liaison with regulators, third-party inspectors, and OEMs.

  • Strategic Leadership & Mentorship:Use your wealth of knowledge to mentor junior engineers, establish best-in-class engineering standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across underground operations.
