Join the culinary team at Carmen’s Event Centre, where every day brings a new challenge and every service plays a part in creating memorable experiences. From elegant weddings and high-profile galas to charity dinners, corporate functions, and live entertainment, you’ll help bring Hamilton’s biggest events to life.

You’ll build your skills in large-scale cooking, coordinate preparation across multiple events, and help deliver consistent, high-quality food for groups of 50 to 1,500 guests. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on environment suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering great food under pressure.

Job Type : part-time, permanent

Compensation : $18.50-$21.00 per hour + gratuities

What you will be doing

As a Line Cook with Carmen’s Group, you’ll prepare and present quality dishes in a busy, team-oriented kitchen. You’ll help keep service running smoothly by staying organized, following established standards, and taking pride in your work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards
• Setting up your station and ensuring ingredients, equipment, and supplies are ready for service
• Assisting with food preparation, buffet service, banquet plating, and other kitchen duties as needed
• Communicating with the culinary team to help ensure service is timely and well coordinated
• Keeping your work area clean and organized throughout your shift
• Following food safety, sanitation, storage, and cleaning procedures
• Contributing to a respectful, supportive team environment
• Attending team meetings and training sessions, and sharing ideas for improvement
• Preparing each dish with consistency and attention to detail

From restaurant service and private celebrations to large-scale banquets, you’ll help create memorable dining experiences for our guests.

What You Bring to the Table

• 1-2 years of experience in a restaurant, banquet, or high-volume kitchen
• Strong knife skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
• A Safe Food Handler’s Certificate is an asset
• Culinary Trade Certification or Red Seal designation is an asset
• A passion for food and pride in the quality of your work
• Flexibility to work during the daytime, evenings, weekends, and event-based hours
