Cash Receipt Clerk

Reporting to the AR Supervisor, the Cash Receipts Clerk is responsible for the accurate application, reconciliation, and analysis of customer payments across multiple business units and systems. This intermediate-level role independently resolves complex cash application discrepancies, supports month-end close activities, and serves as a key resource for cash application processes and controls. The position contributes to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the continuous enhancement of accounts receivable operations while ensuring compliance with company policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.Role DetailsThis role is on site in office 5 days/week and will be based out of our Sherwood Park, AB office.Monday-Friday, 40 hours/weekFull time permanent ResponsibilitiesAccurately receive, record, and apply high-volume and complex incoming payments, including checks, EFTs, wire transfers, and credit card transactions using manual and automated toolsIndependently investigate and resolve complex cash application issues, including unidentified payments, short pays, deductions, and multi-invoice allocationsPerform daily and monthly reconciliations of cash receipts, bank accounts, and accounts receivable subledgers to the general ledgerIdentify, investigate, and resolve variances related to cash receipts and account balancesResearch and resolve aged unapplied and unidentified cash balances through collaboration with customers, Collections, Operations, and Finance teamsSupport month-end and year-end close activities, including the preparation of reconciliations, journal entries, and audit schedulesMaintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready documentation while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting proceduresCollaborate cross-functionally with Collections, Finance, Operations, IT, and other departments to resolve escalated payment discrepancies and improve cash flow processesProvide functional guidance and process support to team members regarding cash application procedures, systems, and best practicesIdentify process improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and automation of cash application workflowsAssist with the implementation, optimization, testing, and maintenance of ERP systems, banking platforms, and cash application automation toolsPrepare and analyze cash application reports, trends, and performance metrics to support management decision-makingPerform other similar duties as required and assigned from time to timeOther work duties as assigned. RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredPost-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in cash application, accounts receivable, banking operations, or a related finance function requiredExperience with electronic payment platforms, banking portals, reconciliation tools, and ERP systems requiredPrevious experience supporting audits, month-end close processes, or process improvement initiatives considered an assetStrong working knowledge of accounts receivable, cash application, banking transactions, and reconciliation processesKnowledge of financial controls, accounting principles, and cash management proceduresProficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, VantagePoint, or equivalent platformsExperience working with cash application automation tools such as Esker or similar systemsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting functionsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently resolve complex discrepanciesAbility to manage high transaction volumes while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlinesStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical improvementsAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretionAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment BenefitsThe strength of Acuren lies in its outstanding people.
