Established in 1983, the FLMM promotes discussion and cooperation between governments on pan-Canadian and regional labour market issues. The FLMM is co-chaired by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and a lead province or territory. About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of the FLMM Secretariat, the Senior Policy Analyst will lead policy research, analysis and communications within the FLMM Secretariat, by providing information to support federal / provincial / territorial discussions at senior levels. Working in a highly sensitive and confidential environment with a small team within an interprovincial forum, to lead and facilitate the work required to support intergovernmental cooperation. This work has a substantial communications component in addition to policy. Both the policy and communications work will require coordinating feedback from multiple jurisdictions, that will be obtained through participating in meetings and working groups.
Primary Accountabilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading agenda management, including preparation of meeting packages, materials, briefing notes and records of decision
- Drafting media releases and correspondence as required
- Leading the preparation of reports, including the annual and mid-year reports
- Leading and/or participating in Federal-Provincial-Territorial working groups and meetings
- Working with a Policy Analyst to lead research and analysis
- Providing advice on FLMM Secretariat organization processes Financial forecasting for annual budget process
Qualifications and Experience

You have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline, combined with 6 years of experience in a related role or an acceptable equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. You have excellent communication skills (oral and written), with experience in report writing, preparation of briefing materials, presentations and communications materials. You have the ability to organize and lead project teams and committees to achieve work objectives, with demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities within critical timelines. Additionally, you will possess superior collaboration, relationship building and analytical skills and the ability to use sound judgement in dealing with confidential materials and situations While not required, it is considered an asset if you have the following:
- Experience working in intergovernmental affairs.
- Experience writing media releases.
- Ability to speak and communicate in French.
The above qualifications and competencies will be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
- Regular work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours per day
- Some overtime work may be required, reflective of time zones in other jurisdictions
- Majority of time is spent in a comfortable office setting with frequent opportunity to move about May be required to travel within and outside the province
Additional Information
This is a term, full-time position based in Halifax, with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2027 . The appointment status (term', temporary' or casual') is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Salary Range: $3,107.16 - $3,649.33 Bi-Weekly
