Department Overview

TD Business Banking provides financial products and services to business customers and is comprised of the following businesses: Commercial Banking , Commercial National Accounts , Commercial Mortgage Group , National Real Estate Group , Agriculture Services and Small Business Banking

Operating as a part of the Business Bank, the Small Business Credit center is comprised of a team of Group Managers, credit analysts and credit managers focused on delivering timely credit decisions to our partners in the retail network right across the country. We strive to deliver first time right credit decisions, with a focus on growing market share while at the same time managing our risk appetite and regulatory framework. Our vision is to innovate and invest to deliver legendary value with speed. How we execute against that vision is to leverage our enterprise scale, process expertise, and lean disciplines to efficiently deliver capabilities while supporting our partners to effectively compete in the markets that they serve as a legendary One TD team.

Key Accountabilities

Customer

• Ensure all credit decisions (approval / decline) are fulfilled on a broad range of credit products efficiently and effectively, meeting service level agreements (SLAs)

• Provide credit support / solutions / recommendations / advice / alternative options when evaluating/analyzing credit applications for decisions in accordance with Bank policies and procedures

• May perform in‐depth analysis of a financial position through a thorough investigation of tax returns and / or financial statements, understanding any contingent liabilities, constructing a global cash flow analysis, and credit reporting documentation

• May investigate available sources of credit financial information and research economic and market conditions relating to the company, industry and market area.

• Ensure customer concerns / issues are handled appropriately and resolved in a timely manner, escalate when required

• Positively contribute to the overall customer experience and foster good relationships with internal and external partners

• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the customer experience within the Business Area

• Create and/or recognize exceptional customer service through established programs

Shareholder

• Prioritize and manage own workload to meet SLA requirements for service and productivity

• Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriately

• Make well rationalized credit decisions within established standards and limits and adjudicate within compliance guideline

• Contribute to the achievement of satisfactory audits by understanding & following audit and process guidelines

• Ensure credit underwriting / adjudication is completed accurately and properly to reflect business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules / regulations while managing risk and minimizing losses

• Preform due diligence in support of all credit applications

• Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging credit underwriting / adjudication trends

• Adhere to credit enterprise frameworks and/or methodologies that relate to credit underwriting / adjudication activities for the area

• Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and ensure the prompt and thorough resolution of escalated non-standard, high risk issues

• Apply subject matter expertise in the discipline of lending, provide guidance, assistance and direction to others

• Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

• Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

Breadth & Depth

• Experienced level professional role with a focus on performing credit underwriting / adjudication on a board range of moderately complex to complex credit products

• Provides authorization required for credit adjudication based on the Bank's Discretionary Lending limits criteria

• Advanced knowledge expert on complex credit products, end-to-end credit processes and systems for own specialized area

• Experienced level of the role with advanced business and operational knowledge or related skills required

• May be required to review/ make decisions on financial statements

• Ability to execute on ad-hoc non-routine requests

• Identifies and investigates non-standard operational / reporting / process issues

• Provides recommendations or escalates issues to appropriate area

• Requires working professional level knowledge of the functional area and/or business areas supported

• Moderate to High level of complexity in operational / reporting / process and/or analysis function

• May operate as a working lead on initiatives as assigned

• May represents the group as a project lead on projects / initiatives and/or at meetings across the organization.

• Provide training to others on best practices, processes, etc. as well as guide junior staff for the completion of business as

Experience & Education

• Undergraduate degree

• 4+ years relevant experience
