Child Care Centre Manager

Job Responsibility:

Reporting to Not-For-Profit Society Parent Board: To manage a high quality Before and After School childcare centre for 40 Elementary School aged children based on developmentally appropriate practises in a happy inclusive space. Operational for the school year, following all Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority) Licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

Education:

· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience.

· Successful experience in managing a childcare centre.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

· Excellent organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information related to the Centre, the children, families, staff and the Board.

· Ability to communicate tactfully, and effectively, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner.

· A caring and compassionate nature with the desire to work with children, nurturing and supporting each one.

· A strong team player with excellent active listening skills and the proven ability to work individually and as a member of a team.

· Mentally and physically be able to perform the duties of the position. Must be physically able to sit, kneel or crouch, be able to stand for long periods and be able to lift/move at least 25lbs.

· Understanding that the role is both administrative and in/out of ratio with the children.

· Ability to coordinate and successfully implement policy and procedures.

· Ability to meet Island Health Licensing Manager requirements.

· Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check to work with children.

Child Development and Safety:

· Integrate and support developmentally appropriate practises.

· Manage, create and support inclusion for all children.

· Manage staffing to meet required ratios.

· Record and report all incidents

Childcare Licensing and Compliance:

· Thorough knowledge of and the ability to implement and meet all Island Health Licensing and BC Childcare Licensing Regulations requirements.

· Ensure all legal and licensed care requirements are met.

· Full understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework.

· Report incidents to relevant authorities and the Parent Board

Family Engagement:

· A professional demeanour with the ability to build trust and create safe, inclusive, trusting relationships with families and the community.

· Provide information to future families and maintain the waitlist.

· Manage incoming families.

· Ensure that children's records are complete and kept updated.

Staff Engagement:

· Coordinate the hiring of new staff members, ensure staff files are completed and kept updated.

· Hold regular staff meetings and update the staff manual.

· Train, supervise, coach and mentor staff to encourage development and growth.

Financial Responsibilities:

· Ability to manage all areas of the operating budget.

· Prepare and monitor programme expenditure, reporting to Board Treasurer.

· Working knowledge of software and programmes including MS Office and Excel.

· Review all income and complete expense reports monthly.

· Process all ACCB, CCOF & CCFRI funding.

· Process all invoices, payroll, bank deposits, fees, tax receipts and payments on schedule.

· Budget and purchase all required supplies eg food, office supplies.

Board Engagement:

· Produce Reports for Board meetings.

· Attend Board meetings.

· Provide timely information to the Board, and maintain regular contact with the Board.

· Prepare background information for policy development.

Reporting to the Parent Board of Deep Cove Kid Club this is a full-time (37.5 hours), on-site position for the duration of the school year, September to June.

The operational hours of the Centre are 7am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Salary, based on experience, in the range of $30-$33 per hour, with 5 paid sick days, 5 paid personal days, paid Professional Development opportunities and an annual Wellness Spending Allowance.
