ABOUT THE TEAM
Facility Management is responsible for the stewardship, operation, maintenance, renewal, and planning of RRC Polytech's diverse portfolio of campuses and facilities. Our team supports academic and administrative operations by providing safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable learning and working environments across Manitoba.

The Infrastructure Planning & Sustainability team provides strategic leadership in energy management, infrastructure planning, sustainability initiatives, space planning, capital renewal, and technical services. Working collaboratively across the institution, the team helps ensure that facilities remain reliable, efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the College's long-term operational and strategic objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic, and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems across RRC Polytech facilities. The incumbent monitors and troubleshoots building control systems to support reliable facility operations, maintain safe and comfortable learning and working environments, and help ensure building systems operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. The Controls Technician performs preventative maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and modifications to building automation and control systems, and provides guidance to building occupants regarding the operation of climate control systems. This position configures and maintains control system networks and user interfaces, diagnoses controls-related issues, and works collaboratively with Facilities Management staff, consultants, and contractors to coordinate controls-related work. The Controls Technician also responds to emergency service calls as required, supports operations across RRC Polytech campuses, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and safe work practices.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Journeyperson Electrician Certificate or related technical education and experience in building controls, automation, HVAC, or instrumentation
• Several years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC controls, pneumatic controls, and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems
• Experience with building automation systems and control networks
• Experience troubleshooting HVAC, refrigeration, and building control systems
• Extensive experience and advanced knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and facility operations
• Advanced programming, configuration, and troubleshooting experience with computerized control systems and building automation platforms
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License
• Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with Delta Controls, Alerton, and/or Automated Logic (ALC) building automation systems
• Experience supporting building system optimization and operational efficiency initiatives
• Experience with BACnet or other building automation communication protocols
• Experience working in a large institutional, educational, healthcare, or commercial facility environment

• Salary Range for this position:  $72,800 - $102,606 per annum
• Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year.
