Survey Construction Lead

What You Bring To WATT:

This role requires strong construction judgment, the ability to manage technical and contractual risk, and experience working in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.

• Secondary education in Geomatics, Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience


• Registration with APEGA or ASET is an asset


• Experience in project planning, risk management, cost control, scheduling, and tender/contract administration


• Strong knowledge of applicable municipal construction standards and specifications


• Proven ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents


• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines


• Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills


• Proficiency with standard MS Office applications


• Valid driver’s licence

What you Will Do At WATT:

Construction Leadership & Coordination

Provide day‑to‑day leadership across construction activities to ensure alignment between design, field execution, and contractual obligations.

• Coordinate and communicate effectively with Geomatics team members, Project Managers, and Division Managers


• Act as a primary point of contact between contractors, regulatory representatives, utilities, and internal project teams


• Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers and Clients regarding progress, risk, and quality

Contract Administration & Risk Management

Protect project outcomes by proactively managing scope, schedule, and contractual risk.

• Assist with construction cost estimates, tender preparation, and contract documentation


• Manage construction contracts to ensure work is completed within approved scope


• Identify, prepare, and support contract change orders for Project Manager review and client approval


• Assist in the development and ongoing management of construction schedules

Field Oversight & Compliance

Ensure construction activities align with design intent, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

• Conduct site observations to verify compliance with construction documents and applicable regulations


• Review engineering drawings and provide constructability feedback to the project team


• Resolve on‑site issues in coordination with the contractor and Project Manager

Process Improvement & Team Development

Contribute to continuous improvement and long‑term delivery consistency across the construction portfolio.

• Support the development and refinement of construction management processes


• Participate in mentoring and developing junior team members


• Contribute practical insights to improve efficiency, risk control, and communication
