Business Line Senior Director - Nuclear

Position Overview

The Business Line Senior Director - Nuclear will  help develop strategic market development, project development, sales campaigns, client relationships, and will lead proposal development, and contract negotiations for nuclear projects in Southern Ontario.

This role will be instrumental in building Kiewit Nuclear Canada's business development platform, transitioning proposals to negotiated contracts and establishing long-term relationships with key owners, utilities, OEMs, engineering firms, joint venture partners, and other stakeholders within the nuclear industry. The successful candidate will   develop strategic opportunities,  through winning pursuit strategies, support proposal and estimate preparation, and provide Terms & Conditions negotiations as well as commercial and contract leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have significant influence in shaping KNC's nuclear growth strategy, with substantial opportunity for increased leadership responsibility and career advancement as the business line expands.

Role focus:  Build KNC's nuclear business development platform, establish strategic market presence, and help shape the long-term growth of the business line.

Location

This position is based out of Kiewit's Oakville office and will support Kiewit Nuclear Canada's business development activities across Ontario and Canada. Travel to client, partner, project, and Kiewit offices will be require up to 50% of the time. 

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for complex project pursuits, contract and commercial negotiations, proposal development, and post-award commercial and contract support within the nuclear market. The successful candidate will work closely with business development, operations, engineering, estimating, legal, finance, risk, and project teams.

• Develop, prepare, and implement short- and long-term business development plans that align with KNC and corporate objectives.
• Build and expand KNC's nuclear business development strategy, market presence, client network, and opportunity pipeline.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize strategic nuclear project opportunities in Southern Ontario and across Canada.
• Support capture planning, pursuit strategy, client engagement, and proposal development for major and mega-project opportunities.
• Work closely with internal Get Work teams and other Kiewit business units to maximize exposure of the Company's capabilities.
• Support the development of commercial strategies and support the preparation of estimates, proposals, risk assessments, and contract terms.
• Lead  complex contract and commercial negotiations for EPC, construction, alliance, joint venture, and other project delivery models.
• Provide post-award commercial and contract support, including contract interpretation, change management, risk mitigation, claims avoidance, and client relationship management.
• Develop and maintain trusting relationships with key decision makers at owner organizations, utilities, OEMs, engineering firms, partners, and suppliers.
• Analyze each opportunity and strategic client and provide recommendations to senior management and pursuit teams.
• Maintain current knowledge of nuclear industry trends, procurement strategies, project delivery models, regulatory requirements, and competitive activity.
• Represent Kiewit at industry, client, and trade organization events.
• Keep executive management informed of market conditions, activities, trends, customer changes, technical developments, competitive strategies, and business development opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a leadership role and strong reputation for Kiewit in the nuclear marketplace.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.

Priority experience includes: 10-15 years of progressive experience in nuclear, major infrastructure, energy, EPC, industrial, or related construction markets, including:

• Contract and commercial negotiation on large-scale or mega-projects.
• Post-award commercial and contract support.
• Proposal development, pursuit leadership, and commercial strategy.
• Nuclear industry experience is strongly preferred. Experience in similarly complex, highly regulated, or capital-intensive markets will also be considered.
• Working knowledge of nuclear project delivery, contracting models, procurement processes, commercial risk, and industry requirements.
• Proven, verifiable track record of developing successful business development strategies, pursuit approaches, proposals, and client relationships.
• Ability to rapidly develop strategies and tactical plans to position KNC for success in the nuclear market.
• Demonstrated ability to identify business opportunities and work with senior management to develop and execute strategies that capitalize on those opportunities.
• Experience negotiating contracts and commercial agreements with clients, OEMs, engineering firms, joint venture partners, and other stakeholders, with support from legal and risk teams.
• Strong understanding of project commercial management, contract administration, risk allocation, and change management.
• Well-organized, energetic, and self-motivated, with the ability to monitor market trends, competitor activity, and changing client priorities.
• Strong client interviewing, presentation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated leadership, sound business judgment, integrity, maturity, and professionalism.
