Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY  

Reporting to the Manager, Projects, the Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects. This includes planning and executing projects within PRPA’s project framework and ensuring that final project deliverables align with PRPA’s strategic goals and corporate values. 

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading project teams that may include resources from other PRPA departments, as well as overseeing the work conducted by external consultants, contractors and other vendors. In addition, the Project Manager will be responsible for reporting on project progress for the purposes of general communication as well as periodic corporate reports. 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES  

• Manages the planning and implementation of projects, using their expertise, knowledge and in-house experience to facilitate an effective and sound definition of project scopes, goals and deliverables. 


• Liaises with, and involves tenants and stakeholders, including Indigenous Communities, in the development of project scopes, goals and deliverables. 


• Participates in the tendering process, including evaluation of bidders’ technical qualifications, as well as the awarding of work to the winning bidder. 


• Assists with contracts and contract negotiations. 


• Manages internal and external project’s staff, including consultants and sub-contractors as well as project resourced allocations. 


• Monitors capital projects and ensures compliance with design, cost, schedule, project changes, and final acceptance. 


• Plans and schedules project timelines as well as prepares reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.


• Ensures that project documentation and updated record drawings are filed following PRPA’s protocol. 


• Ensures that all technical information relating to newly installed and acquired assets is entered into the preventive maintenance software following PRPA’s protocol (i.e. manufacturer, capital cost, specifications, preventive maintenance schedule, etc.). 


• Ensures that maintenance personnel are provided with the appropriate training on operating and maintaining new assets through the original contractual agreements. 


• Uses various software (mainly AutoCAD) and assists in developing designs, including but not limited to port infrastructure, layouts, and schematics. 


• Continues their professional development by keeping abreast with new technologies, methodologies, processes and technical information relating to port infrastructure, equipment and systems. 


• Performs any other duties as directed by the Manager, Projects. 

WORKING CONDITIONS  

• Works in an office environment and in the field (outdoors, land and water, remote or wilderness settings, all weather). 


• Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Regular working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid). 


• May be required to work outside regular work hours. 


• Occasional travel. 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS  

Formal Education  

• University Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 


• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Engineer in Training (EIT) or engineer eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. 


• Technologists with suitable experience will also be considered. 


• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset. 

Related Experience  

• 3 to 5 years’ related experience

• Proficient in MS Office environment, including “Project.” 


• Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence. 


• Able to obtain security clearance under Transport Canada’s Security Clearance Program. 

The base salary range for this role is $107,936-$134,919. This position is eligible for a performance-based variable incentive targeted at 15% of the base salary.
