Division: Finance and Planning Division

Client Service Results :

Supports the Finance Division of the organization by timely and accurate posting of accounting information, assisting in reporting requirements and other accounting functions under the direction of the Director of Finance and Planning and Financial Controller. 

Summary of Duties:

Maintaining accurate and up to date accounting records by:

• Timely processing of vendor invoices and travel forms for payment, ensuring proper authorization, documentation, coding and routing of payments


• Management of expense files


• Timely preparation and posting of payroll entries in the accounting system


• Auditing/verification of invoices including checking invoices received against approved purchase orders and researching discrepancies


• Coordinate the purchase order function by maintaining a purchase order log, a void purchase order file and matching purchase orders to invoices

Preparing reports and documents by:

• Production of weekly cheque runs


• Preparing HST returns each quarter


• Preparing various receivable and payable reconciliations including an analysis of items overdue by 90 days


• Preparing monthly Visa reconciliations and related posting


• Maintenance of log tracking mail out of vendor payments

Providing support to the Finance Division by:

• Assisting with year-end file preparation


• Acting as a backup signing officer for cheques


• Responding to various inquiries/investigating problems regarding accounts payable that may be received from staff or vendors

Performing other duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to:

• Acting as a backup for entry of payroll data and transmission of payroll data to Ceridian

Education/Experience:

• Diploma or degree in accounting, business administration, or other related field


• 2 years related experience
