Property and Capital Accountant

Job Responsibility:

Overview UWCRC 2.0 Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Property and Capital Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing the full cycle accounting for residential properties and overseeing capital projects. We are looking for a candidate with a Diploma in Accounting, experience in capital project accounting, and a strong knowledge of financial data management. The ideal candidate has a high level of integrity and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Full cycle accounting for a group of residential properties.
• Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Intercompany accounts and transactions.
• Maintain internal control systems.
• Work with Property Management team to ensure timely entry of AP and AR.
• Enter payables, process payments, and monitor bank accounts.
• Enter tenant receipts, process security deposit transactions and refunds.
• Maintain amortization schedules, track mortgage balances.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Maintain up to date filing of invoices and other documents.
• Assist with preparation of month end financial statements, including performing account reconciliations.
• Assist with annual audits.
• Capital accounting for properties and projects under development.
• Process and track project invoices and expenses.
• Maintain project bank accounts, including separate accounts for vendor holdbacks.
• Prepare reporting required by project funders and lenders (i.e. government grants).
• Manage project cashflows and prepare draw requests to access project funds.
• Work with Project Management team to ensure all financial needs of each project are managed.
• Performing ad-hoc financial analysis or reporting, clerical and administrative support as needed.
• Other misc. accounting functions as necessary.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Experience in Accounting for Capital Projects
• Knowledge of data entry, financial data management, and analysis
• Self-motivated, dependable and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, small team environment
• Knowledge of relevant computer applications, including MS Word and MS Excel
• Experience with Yardi Breeze software is an asset
• Completion or enrollment in the CPA program is an asset
