Job Summary:JUNIPER CAFE is seeking a dedicated Baking Manager to join our team. As a well known and busy licensed cafe in Kingston serving house-made sandwiches, salads, and baked goods using locally sourced ingredients, we are looking for a dynamic individual to oversee baking daily operations and ensure exceptionally made products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and must possess strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:? Oversee daily cafe operations in the baking department, including staff management, inventory and product management.
? Ensure high-quality food preparation and adherence to food safety standards.
? Ensure baked goods for morning display are up to company standards, oversea & contribute to execution of catering and bulk fresh/frozen baked goods offerings.
? Collaborate with the team to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
? Train & coach new staff continually monitoring quality control of baked goods being made.
? Contribute to breakfast and line food menu development, refining and execution.
? Manage and execute inventory control systems and food ordering methods.
? Contribute and lead the kitchen cleaning & maintenance.
? Enforce company policies and procedures.
? Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
? Maintain cleanliness and organization in the cafe environment.
Requirements:? Valid Food Safety Certification.
? Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
? Able to work standing during long periods.
? Work in an environment with all food types & possible allergens (meat, dairy, gluten, nuts, etc.)
? Work in a team environment valuing respect of people & spaces.
? Communicate clearly both verbally and in written.
? Open to working in a learning environment.
? Min of 3 years' experience baking.
? Certificate in baking from a reputable cooking school (2 year program or equivalent).
? Understand and troubleshoot baking/food science.
? Experience in a managerial role within the food industry, preferably in a restaurant setting.
? Familiar with food safety regulations and holding a current food safety certification.
? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
? Proficiency in managing inventory and controlling costs effectively.
? This job involves some limited travel for visits to other locations and the occasional stops at suppliers to purchase food or other requirements for the kitchen.
