Solid Waste Compliance Officer RDN

Elevate waste management initiatives with the Regional District of Nanaimo as a Solid Waste Compliance Officer. Your expertise in enforcement and compliance will help achieve waste diversion goals. In this permanent full-time role, you will support the RDN's Solid Waste Services department. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, managing compliance records, and addressing non-compliance. A blend of education and hands-on enforcement will empower you to make a meaningful impact on community waste practices. Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect inbound waste loads for compliance
- Identify contamination and apply corrective measures
- Monitor adherence of licensed haulers to regulations
- Investigate illegal dumping and coordinate clean-ups
- Respond to complaints and maintain compliance documentation
- High school diploma and relevant two years post-secondary education
- Three years of local government experience
- Minimum of one year in compliance and enforcement
- Level 1 Bylaw Enforcement course certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
