Software Developer - Agentic AI in Product Design

Company Description Heroic Design Inc. is a Vancouver-based SaaS company building AI-powered software for conceptual product design. Our platform guides product designers through the conceptual design process and pairs them with an AI co-creator so they can design products that customers actually buy and love. The process covers ideation through to brainstorming and selection, for physical, software, and service products.
Role Description Responsible for building the back-end systems for Heroic Design's agentic AI product designer. This role focuses on experimental development: AI evaluation services, chain-of-thought orchestration, cross-stage context, benchmarking pipelines, safety checks, confidence-based escalation, and auditable design records. Success means turning AI-assisted product design into a reliable workflow that can help evaluate ideas across hardware, software, and service products.
Responsibilities
- Build backend services for an agentic AI product designer, including AI evaluation, orchestration, and design-record systems
- Collaborate to define evaluation criteria, benchmarking methods, and technical requirements for each design stage
- Develop and test cross-design-stage context handling, safety checks, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop escalation
- Build benchmarking, logging, and debugging tools to compare AI decisions with human designer decisions
- Integrate LLM and model APIs, optimize performance and cost, and maintain reliable cloud-based services
Qualifications
- Graduate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Strong backend software development skills in Python
- Experience building and deploying web applications on Microsoft Azure, including cloud services, APIs, databases, authentication, monitoring, and secure production environments
- Experience working with large language models, model APIs, AI evaluation, or agent workflows
- Experience designing tests, benchmarks, and debugging pipelines for AI-enabled systems
- Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL and modern software architecture
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work on a team and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Interest in product design, engineering workflows, and human-AI collaboration
- Familiarity with Heroic’s product design software (
