- Ordonner des épreuves de laboratoire, des rayons x et autres procédures de diagnostic
- Donner des conseils aux patients concernant les soins de santé
- Superviser le personnel
- Prescrire et administrer des médicaments et des traitements
- Se faire le défenseur du patient
- Participer à la planification des soins de santé et à l'élaboration de politiques à cet égard
- Embaucher et former le personnel
- Effectuer des tâches relatives aux ressources humaines telles que la sélection de personnel
- Consulter d'autres médecins afin d'évaluer la santé physique et psychologique des patients
- Effectuer des interventions chirurgicales courantes ou y participer
- Coordonner ou gérer les soins primaires dispensés aux patients
- Fournir des conseils et un encadrement aux patients et à leur famille en ce qui a trait à une foule de questions touchant la santé et le mode de vie
- Dispenser des soins d'urgence
- Assurer la gestion des soins actifs
- Commander des analyses de laboratoire, des radiographies et d'autres procédures de diagnostic afin de déterminer le traitement médical le plus approprié
- Aider les patients à développer des habitudes saines, à rompre avec de vieilles habitudes et à redéfinir leur approche du bien-être
- Examiner l'état de santé des patients afin d'identifier les maladies et les blessures
- Recueillir des informations médicales auprès des patients, des membres de leur famille ou d'autres professionnels de la santé
