Software Architect Team Lead

MuxLab Inc (Montreal, Canada), a leading designer and manufacturer of connectivity solutions for the Pro AV, Broadcast, Audio-Video and Structured Cabling market, is actively seeking a candidate for the position of Software Architect & Software Team Lead.
You will be part of the MuxLab R&D team to develop hybrid mobile & desktop applications, as well as APIs and server-side applications in the context of our audio / video solutions. This is a hands-on role for defining the software architecture and technical roadmap for MuxLab's software platforms while helping and working on the development. The candidate will provide leadership throughout the software development lifecycle and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products that support MuxLab's expanding portfolio of AV-over-IP, control, conferencing, and cloud-connected solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall software architecture across desktop, mobile, web, server, and embedded software platforms.
- Lead the technical direction for new software products and enhancements.
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures.
- Drive software innovation through the effective adoption of AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
- Project conception and development, carrying the project through the entire SDLC
- Improve and update current applications.
- Improve and maintain existing software components.
- Perform test units, verification and validation of the product developed.
- Document the projects according to Muxlab’s standards (protocols, architecture, technical specifications, etc.).
Software Development
- Provide hands-on development support.
- Guide the development of hybrid mobile and desktop applications.
- Oversee API, backend, and server-side application development.
- Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD practices, and validation processes.
- Maintain and improve existing software platforms.
Documentation & Standards
- Establish software architecture standards and development guidelines.
- Ensure proper documentation of software architecture, APIs, protocols, technical specifications, and design decisions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- 5+ years work experience with below technologies:
- Experienced in Angular development
- AngularJS experience is an asset
- Experienced in PHP, NodeJS development
- Experience developing APIs and server-side applications
- Good knowledge of MySQL
- Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development practices
- Ability to write effective and reusable code according to best practices.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable, and reusable code following industry best practices.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools safely and effectively to improve engineering productivity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing software for Pro AV, networking, embedded systems, IoT, or video streaming technologies.
- Experience with AV-over-IP, control systems, or media distribution platforms.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native application development.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for connected devices and software platforms.
- Experience working within cross-functional hardware/software development teams.
