This position actively participates in department education programs and is expected to adopt the interdisciplinary model that defines the department and participate in a manner that embraces this model. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No
Education
- Baccalaureate of Social Work degree
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical social work
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to provide counseling and therapy to individuals, couples and groups
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in recognized social work methodologies
- knowledge of concepts/strategies used to develop/deliver educational programming
- Ability to carry out duties in a manner that meets clients safety needs
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
- Ability to establish working relationships with clients during times of distress
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Strong initiative and independent judgement to solve complex problems
