Expected Start Date: August 17, 2026 Union: HSAS Facility: Population and Public Health - Regina City/Town: Regina Department: Community Recovery Services Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: March 05, 2027 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: Shift of 8 hours Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Standard Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Degree $34.509 to $42.199 Travel Required: Yes Job : As a member of the Community Recovery Services and under the general direction of the Manager of CRS the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of youth, young adults and adults with severe and persistent mental illness, seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues. Responsibilities include assessment & screening, individual & group counseling, case management & educational sessions. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Experience- 1 yr exp working with a concurrent disorder population in a community setting.
Education
- Degree in Addiction Counseling
- Bachelor of Chemical Dependency
- Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Registered Nurse)
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of how addictions impacts the individual, community and families
- Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
- Knowledge in development model of recovery (SMRS)
- Ability to accurately assess addictions and make appropriate recovery plans
- Promote healthy lifestyles in urban & rural settings with diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide individual, group and crisis management counselling skills
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery Services
