Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Engineering and Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance operations of our food processing facility in Langley, BC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all mechanical equipment and systems while adhering to regulatory standards. This role requires a strategic leader who can effectively manage capital projects, lead maintenance programs, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility. This role plays a pivotal role in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of our plant while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reliability.

General

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Engineering and Maintenance Manager oversees and leads all plant engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the high efficiency, safety, and performance of equipment, utilities, and overall facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all plant maintenance and engineering operations to ensure equipment reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage capital projects, maintenance budgets, and contractor performance in partnership with the Plant Manager.
• Provide engineering leadership for equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility optimization.
• Champion and own plant safety performance by driving proactive safety initiatives and risk reduction.
• Establish performance metrics and lead team accountability, development, and succession planning.
• Ensure effective use of CMMS for maintenance planning, work order management, and asset tracking.
• Oversee inventory strategy to ensure sufficient spare parts availability while optimizing cost and efficiency.
• Build and lead a high-performing team through coaching, training, and development.
• Oversee workforce planning and contractor management to meet operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead by example in fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; trade certification considered (Power Engineering an asset).
• 7+ years of maintenance/engineering experience in manufacturing, including capital projects and maintenance programs.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS/ERP systems and maintenance best practices.
• Solid understanding of OHS, GMP, and food safety regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to drive reliability, continuous improvement, and operational performance.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
