Belwood Lodge and Camp is a summer camp for children, youth, and adults with special needs. We take pride in our unique program being a safe place for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to make friends and build life skills.
Currently we are seeking a Cook for our kitchen for our summer 2024 season. This position is most ideal for a college/university student who is approaching graduation, but all qualified candidates will be considered. This position begins ASAP and ends on August 30th. It is a full-time, summer live-in position perfect for an individual looking to start a career in cooking, catering, or kitchen management. This position also qualifies for the season-end bonus of $500 (upon successful completion of 10 week contract).
The Cook at Belwood Lodge and Camp is responsible for ensuring a smooth-running kitchen on a day-to-day basis. The Cook oversees a kitchen/dishroom staff of 4-5 other individuals. It does not call for gourmet or special cooking skills or qualifications. Time-management is a successful Cook's greatest skill at our camp. They must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay on top of kitchen issues. Meal preparation for about 130 individuals, as well as several special diet preparations for staff and participants is expected (along with the assistance of the kitchen staff). They must be comfortable working with a population with mental and physical disabilities and with a relatively young staff. Campers come for between 1 and 3 weeks and special diet needs vary with each camp.
