Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, the Regional Controller is located within the regional dealership under their responsibility. This position requires the ability to meet deadlines, communicate concisely with the dealership leadership team and have a high degree of accuracy. The Controller will be privy to highly confidential information and will be accountable for a high level of discretion and maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

The Regional Controller will have the full financial responsibility of specific geographical dealership locations they are assigned. This position will specifically apply business analytics to areas such as dealership transactions and data validation. Having a solid grasp on business processes and pain points, inter-business relationships and systems thinking are required. Some areas of analysis will also include (but are not limited to) business value, cost-benefit valuation, build/buy/lease considerations, development of acceptance criteria and communication of business readiness and impact.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
• Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts on a frequent basis. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.
• Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
• Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.
• Manages the day-to-day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies.
• Manages vehicle contracts once initiated by sales consultant and ensure timely filing of them.
• Ensures that Retail Delivery Registration (RDR) takes place for each vehicle sold. This is registering the vehicle to the manufacturer.
• Ensures that all documents are fully completed and included in customer file.
• Stocks cars in DMS and other systems once they have arrived on site. (Inventory Team will do the purchasing and the flooring of these vehicles).
• Registers sold vehicles.
• Ensures that licensing for sold vehicles takes place in a timely manner by the administrative staff.
• Makes applications for incentives to manufacturers wherever possible. (The Accounting Administrator will follow up on these incentives once application is complete.)

Qualifications

• Accounting Diploma/Degree

• 5 to 7 years experience in an organization with multiple dealerships

• Management experience

• Excellent written and communication skills

• Strong Analytical skills

• Previous automotive accounting experience with CDK software

• Must be detail oriented, accurate, well-organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required

• Strong internal and external customer service skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic knowledge of automotive service requirements.
• Comfortable with computers and knowledge of dealership management systems.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently, managing their time and workflow, while simultaneously providing assistance to customers.
• Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to schedule work and drivers under time pressures.
• Accuracy, attention to detail, and clear communication with other team members and departments in the dealership.
