The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting a Group Orientation Coordinator to support our Community Clinic Program. The Coordinator works with our Senior Manager and Health Navigators to deliver group-based orientation sessions and specialized health literacy workshops for government assisted refugees (GARs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver group-based orientation sessions for GARs.
• Develop and conduct specialized health literacy workshops tailored to GAR populations.
• Ensure that all sessions are culturally competent and trauma informed.
• Enhance the support for Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) by facilitating their understanding and smoother integration into the healthcare system, ensuring they can efficiently access essential medical services
• Deliver direct support by efficiently connecting GARs with primary health care providers and community health initiatives, scheduling appointments, and coordinating their treatment plans to address their health needs effectively.
• Carry out targeted outreach efforts in Richmond and locations offering temporary housing to identify the immediate health needs of GARs proactively. Provide them with the necessary resources and guide them toward accessing the appropriate health care services, focusing on ensuring their well-being and health security during resettlement.
• Work closely with HA, RAP, frontline settlement workers, and health practitioners to ensure a cohesive support system for GARs.
• Maintain strong relationships with community members to build rapport and trust.
• Continuously update and maintain health resources with the latest information and feedback from the community.
• Provide accurate and timely information to GARs regarding available health services and programs.
• Performs other duties as required by the Manager.

Qualified Candidates will possess:

• Degree or Diploma in Health Sciences, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field. ;
• Previous experience working with refugee populations and understanding their unique health needs;
• Exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills;
• Experience in delivering health education and conducting workshops.
• Experience facilitating workshops for newcomers and vulnerable minority populations;
• Knowledge of anti-oppression frameworks;
• Strong understanding of health systems and programs in the Lower Mainland;
• Ability to work successfully and cooperatively on inter-agency project initiatives;
• Ability to provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care;
• Knowledge of the settlement sector and processors;
• Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships;
• Strong interpersonal communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Good knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications;
• Ability to travel within Vancouver, Richmond, and surrounding areas.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
