Infection Control Practitioner {ONA CS-26-167}

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Master’s degree in Nursing required, or other relevant master’s degree
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required
• Recent (within 2–3 years) experience in Infection Prevention and Control required
• Minimum of 2–4 years of recent (within 2–3 years) hospital clinical experience required
• Knowledge of current best practices, legislation, and reporting requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control
• Experience engaging with stakeholders and government agencies (e.g., Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), Public Health Ontario (PHO)) and Infection Prevention and Control organizations (e.g., IPAC Canada, Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC))
• Demonstrated proficiency in patient physical assessment required
• Flexibility in working hours as dictated by program needs required
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills, particularly in conflict resolution, required
• Basic computer proficiency using a variety of applications required
• Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles, combined with recent teaching experience, required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently required
• Commitment to ongoing annual education and continuous improvement in Infection Prevention and Control and quality improvement required
• Good attendance and work record required
• Demonstrated commitment to personal safety and the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting a culture of safety and the prevention of adverse health events within the organization
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
