Overview

Job Title: Technology Architect - Public Safety Radio Network

Location: Peterborough, ON/Remote

Duration: 190 Business Days with possible extension

Client: Public Sector

Pay Rate: CAD $95 -$100 per hour

Must have

• 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, supporting, or administering P25 (Project 25) radio communication networks, preferably within Motorola environments
• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience managing public safety radio networks and telecommunications operations
• Strong expertise with Motorola public safety radio systems and network infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with encryption technologies and equipment, including KMF (Key Management Facility), KMF Workstation, and KVL (Key Variable Loader)
• Experience using Motorola ZoneWatch, Provisioning Manager (PM), Unified Event Manager (UEM), or equivalent radio network management tools
• Strong knowledge of Land Mobile Radio (LMR/LMRN) systems, public safety communications, and mission-critical network operations
• Experience supporting large-scale telecommunications, radio network modernization, infrastructure upgrade, or migration projects
• Extensive experience with IP networking, telephony systems, satellite communications, and related telecommunications technologies
• Demonstrated ability to develop, recommend, implement, and manage enterprise technical architectures in complex, distributed environments
• Experience translating business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture designs
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes, systems analysis, infrastructure planning, and enterprise architecture methodologies
• Proven project management, stakeholder management, and vendor coordination experience
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and executive stakeholders
• Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Experience working within Public Sector, Public Safety, Emergency Services, Police, or Government environments is highly preferred
• Ability to obtain OPP Level 4 Security Clearance

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop, recommend, implement, and manage technical architecture solutions supporting Ontario's Public Safety Radio Network modernization initiatives
• Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for P25 radio technologies, telecommunications infrastructure, and public safety communication systems
• Support design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of large-scale radio communication networks and related infrastructure components
• Lead architecture planning activities involving hardware, software, databases, communications networks, and system integrations
• Evaluate current-state environments and recommend improvements to enhance performance, reliability, scalability, and security
• Collaborate with project teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and operational groups to support successful delivery of network modernization initiatives
• Provide expertise in radio encryption technologies, key management processes, and secure communications solutions
• Support implementation and administration of Motorola radio network management platforms, including ZoneWatch, Provisioning Manager, and Unified Event Manager
• Develop technical architecture deliverables, models, standards, documentation, and implementation roadmaps
• Participate in network design reviews, architecture governance activities, infrastructure planning, and technology assessments
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex telecommunications, radio network, and infrastructure-related issues and provide recommendations for resolution
• Support project planning, risk management, change management, testing, deployment, and transition activities
• Coordinate and oversee technical work performed by internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders
• Communicate technical recommendations, project status updates, and architecture decisions to leadership teams and business stakeholders
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to public safety communications, telecommunications infrastructure, and enterprise architecture
