Sous Chef

Job Duties:
- Prepare and delegate the production of food items for a large group of people, including for customers with food allergies and other sensitivities.
- Follow recipes and directions provided by head chef.
- Help oversee kitchen operations and the preparation of food items.
- Supervise, instruct and train subordinate kitchen staff.
- Assist with menu planning and development.
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
- Open and close the kitchen.
- Comply with guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Oversee kitchen operations and food service areas to ensure high standards of cleanliness.

Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of recent work experience as a sous-chef or equivalent at a high-volume restaurant.
- Red seal certification considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure.
- Ability to work efficiently with a close attention to detail.
- Willingness to follow direction and be self-initiating when required and appropriate.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and carry heavy products, reach and stretch.
- Scheduling flexibility, including the ability to work day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Completion of secondary school.
- English language ability.

Job Details:
- $52,000 to $60,000 (commensurate with experience and certifications).
- Full-time (at least 40 hours per week).
- Day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Food discounts provided, in addition to health and dental benefits.
