Job Summary

The Reporting to the Supervisor of Fleet and Inventory Services, the Seasonal Employee will be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of seasonal lawn care equipment such as large area mowers, push mowers, and weed trimmers to ensure they are in good operating condition and ready for daily use.

Job Duties Include

The following responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Perform daily equipment cleaning, greasing and blade sharpening
• Delivery of fuel to satellite locations
• Rotation of equipment between satellite locations
• Maintain cleanliness of shop area
• Maintain accurate documentation related to the inspection and maintenance of equipment

Qualifications/Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Nine (9) months relevant experience with machines and equipment and skilled in the operation of various shop tools as well as being physically capable of performing all the duties as required
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and exercise good judgment
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and any other applicable legislation
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team
• Good time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties
• Class G driver's license in good standing and clear driver’s abstract
• Ability to provide a current criminal record check satisfactory to the Town, upon being hired

What is Offered to Staff

• Compensation: We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position.
• Hours of Work : This is a unionized position that works a 40 hour work week in varying weather conditions. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Duration of Employment: This seasonal position works up to 150 days from about April to the end of November each year and is based on the operational needs of the department.
• Probationary Period : Seasonal Labourers are required to complete a six (6) month probationary period and if the probation is successful, then the Seasonal Labourer will be invited to return in subsequent seasons.
