About the Role

As a Senior FX Artist , you’ll be responsible for creating stunning, high-quality simulations for feature films, television, and high-end projects. From photorealistic fire and smoke to breathtaking explosions and magical FX — your work will help shape the visual experience of audiences around the world.

You’ll collaborate with some of the best talent in the industry, working closely with departments like Build, Animation, and Compositing to deliver visuals that look and feel seamless on screen.

$70,000 – $95,000 CAD per year (based on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities

• Create realistic FX simulations including smoke, fire, explosions, fluids, and particle effects using Houdini .
• Collaborate with supervisors and compositors to integrate FX seamlessly into final shots.
• Maintain consistent quality and meet tight production deadlines.
• Problem-solve creatively to achieve the desired artistic results.
• Stay up to date with new techniques and tools to enhance FX production.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Professional Tenure: Minimum 5+ years of specialized professional experience working on high-end visual effects for feature films, episodic streaming, or major cinematic productions.
• Software Mastery: Exceptional, demonstrable proficiency in Houdini , paired with a strong artistic eye for scale, timing, composition, and detail.
• Physical Understanding: A deep, intuitive grasp of real-world dynamics, physical motion, gravity, and material behavior.
• Technical Bonus: Working familiarity with Nuke compositing pipelines, Python scripting, or similar technical tools is considered a strong advantage.
• Soft Skills: Outstanding teamwork, proactive communication, and the adaptability needed to thrive under the dynamic pressures of a major studio environment.
