Summer Student - Camp Counsellor

(Term – July 2nd to August 31st, 2026)

Health Department

(35 hours per week - $19.85/hr.)

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Native Healing Centre Coordinator, the Summer Camp Counsellor is responsible for creating a safe, positive, and engaging camp experience for children and youth participating in PGNFC summer programming. The successful candidate will work with the Native Healing Centre staff supervising campers during daily activities, facilitating recreational and educational programming, and promoting healthy relationships in a safe environment. Camp activities may include sports, arts and crafts, cultural programming, outdoor recreation, games, field trips, and special events.

Qualifications:

• Must be a student returning to full-time studies in the 2026 Fall semester.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Lifeguard certification is an asset.
• Previous experience working with children, youth, recreation programs, or camp settings preferred.
• Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check prior to employment.
• Proficiency with computer applications related to the position.

• Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
