The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking dedicated individuals to join Paul Dojack Youth Centre as permanent part-time Facility Youth Workers. The ministry provides correctional services that support safe communities, safe facilities and positive outcomes for youth offenders. The position offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, pension, career development opportunities, an inclusive workplace and a paid 11-week Induction Training Program.
The ministry is looking for accountable, collaborative and adaptable professionals committed to public service excellence. Candidates must be able to build positive relationships with youth offenders, support rehabilitation, exercise sound judgment and work effectively in challenging situations. Candidates should possess knowledge of the Canadian criminal justice system and human behaviour to support positive change and successful reintegration. Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to assess risk, apply legislation, policies and procedures, and work with youth from diverse backgrounds. Qualifications are typically obtained through a university degree in Social Sciences, a diploma in Law Enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 drivers licence or equivalent and a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate are required. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of youth offenders, providing assessment, counselling, program delivery and case management, supporting rehabilitation efforts and responding to incidents in a safe and professional manner.
