Medical Laboratory Technologist - Temporary Part-Time (Huntsville)

Job Overview

Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities, delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi‑site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will perform routine and special laboratory tests in CMLTO authorized areas of practice: biochemistry, hematology, histology, microbiology, transfusion medicine.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, separate and distribute biological specimens.
• Apply principles, theories, and techniques of Medical Technology to produce accurate test results that aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology program.
• Current professional registration and licensure with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and calmly under pressure.
• Harmonious teamwork with patients, physicians, managers, and colleagues.
• Knowledge of blood collection systems.
• Good visual acuity and colour discrimination.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Location & Work Hours

Multi‑site; work on‑site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) in Huntsville.

Applicants must reside within 125 km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting; exceptions may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Hours of work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and the collective agreement.

Conditions of Employment
