SUMMARY
The position of Applications Designer supports the Engineering Team by generating new product designs and continually improves the design of current products by applying the needs of StackTeck Systems, customers and suppliers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 3D modeling and 2D drafting using UG
- Design plastic part models and drawings for thin wall containers and lids
- Design plastic part models and drawings for caps and closures
- Design plastics part drawings from customer supplied 2D drawings and / or 3D models
- Create steel part models and drawings for use by the injection mold design group
- Review / critique customer supplied plastic part drawings specifically for: Cycle time limitations, part ejection, part strength, manufacturability, possible re-cuts to molding surfaces, automation requirements.
- Provide feedback on customer supplied part drawings
- Liaise / consult with external and internal customers
- Conduct part design reviews with the mold design group, account manager, program manager and customer
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- College or University related background in engineering, sciences, or mechanics
- 2+ years experience in UG/NX (or similar) modeling and 2D drafting
- Injection mold knowledge/experience is an asset (Thin wall, closures)
- Excellent communication in English (verbal and written)
- Must be very organized
- Must be able to deal with external and internal customers in a professional manner
- Must be able to perform in a team environment
- Must be able to shift from varying priorities depending on the business needs at the time
- Must be able to meet deadlines set out at the beginning of the project
