Process Shift Supervisor

Job Responsibility:

Position Title: Process Shift Supervisor (2 positions, Weekday shift - Mon to Thurs and Weekend shift - Fri to Sun)

Business Unit: Empower Environmental Solutions Calgary Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary of Northstar Clean Technologies Inc.)

Reports to: Plant Manager

Shift Position 1: Monday to Thursday, 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM and additional time as required. Permanent position.

Shift Position 2 : Friday to Sunday, 7.00 AM to 7.00 PM and additional time as required. Permanent position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes (3 to 5 employees)

Summary: This salaried supervisory role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of process and packaging equipment, generation of accurate reports, and achieving production targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

· Lead, support, and participate actively in all site-level HSE initiatives.

· Understand and follow Company policies, site procedures, and relevant Alberta OHS legislation and ensure that safe work procedures and standard operating procedures are executed and promoted with a proactive approach.

· Develop team culture of situational awareness, risk mitigation, and prompt reporting of all incidents and ensure thorough and accurate documentation of worksite inspections and compliance activities.

· Ensure availability of necessary raw materials and schedule equipment and personnel to fulfill business demands. Develop strategies to ensure KPIs are achieved safely.

· Direct and lead process operators and other team members as required.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control standards through regular inspection and testing.

· Analyze shift and personnel performance. Utilize shift performance information to monitor trends, communicate results, and initiate remedial action when required.

· Develop strong cross-functional teams who can learn, adapt, and support the facility's continuous improvement process.

· Evaluate operational deficiencies, collaborate with senior management and other shift teams, and make appropriate changes to optimize production capabilities and minimize process downtime.

· Maintain a clean work area and report issues promptly for resolution.

· Be able to support and cover another shift if required.

· Trade certification in a relevant field, engineering technology diploma, or equivalent work experience operating process equipment.

· A minimum of five years' experience supervising an hourly workforce.

· A minimum of three years' experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, waste management, or environmental services.

· Familiarity with Alberta's OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.

· Experience supporting HSE initiatives and/or membership in OHS committees are assets.

· Have mechanical aptitude and be able to troubleshoot process and packaging equipment, resolve issues, and collaborate with maintenance personnel when applicable.

· Capable of lifting heavy items and performing physical tasks as required.

· Able to operate powered mobile equipment and follow necessary safe work procedures.

· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

· Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

· Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Computer Skills: Be able to use HMI screens.

Language Skills: Be able to read, analyze, and interpret job related information including machine or component drawings and schematics. Write tool requests and justification reports.

Mathematical and Reasoning Ability and Skills: Be able to perform appropriate math functions pertaining to inventory control systems and maintenance disciplines. Collect and accurately assemble data in a logical manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to carry/handle or feel, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for appropriate inspections. The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs multiple times a shift. Seasonal exposure to weather elements may include, but not limited to, extreme temperature, wetness, and humidity.
