The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking dedicated individuals to join Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre as permanent part-time Correctional Officers. The ministry is committed to providing correctional services that support safe communities, safe facilities and positive outcomes for offenders. The ministry is looking for accountable, adaptable and collaborative professionals who demonstrate integrity, sound judgment and a commitment to public service excellence. Candidates must be able to work effectively with offenders, colleagues and other professionals while maintaining safety and professionalism in challenging environments. Candidates should possess knowledge of the Canadian criminal justice system and human behaviour to support offender rehabilitation and reintegration. Strong communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, decision-making and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to assess risk, interpret legislation, policies and procedures, and work with diverse populations. A university degree in Social Sciences, a diploma in Law Enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is typically required. Applicants must hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 drivers license or equivalent and a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate. Responsibilities include maintaining the safety and security of the correctional facility, supervising offenders, supporting case planning and reintegration activities, leading programming, assessing risk and responding to incidents using appropriate intervention strategies.
