We are currently looking for a Chief Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Shared Services-Accounting, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting processes, respecting procedures, accounting standards, month-end deadlines and will be involved with our external auditors for the SOX audit file and the year-end file. He/she will be responsible for supervising the execution and organization of the work of accountants/clerks and acts as an advisor to the department and entities regarding the improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls and compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

As part of your duties, you will be required to:

• Manage, supervise the team and promote the development of its members (8); accountants and accounting clerks.
• Supervise and review various sections of the monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the month-end and year-end work of the members of his team,
• Issue recommendations as part of the continuous improvement and standardization process.
• Supervise and coordinate the implementation of internal control procedures and ensure their follow-up.
• Responsible for multiple SOX controls.
• Coordinate and supervise the preparation of budget support documents for the divisions.
• Act as a resource person and provide support to the operations accounting team.

Qualifications

To join our team, you must, among other things have:

• University degree in accounting, CPA accounting designation or equivalent,
• Have at least 5 years of experience in an accounting position, comfortable with accounting theory and consolidation.
• Knowledge of internal control is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and report generators.
• As part of your duties, you will have to collaborate regularly with work colleagues located across Canada.
