This is a casual Union position. Hours of work vary and evening and weekend work will be required. The (2026) rate of pay is $24.93 for Level 1 and $30.54 per hour for Level 2. As a casual employee you will also receive an additional 10.77% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holidays. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo has an employment opportunity for a Casual Lifeguard/Instructor Level II at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach.
Qualifications include high school graduation, with one (1) to three (3) years of pool/aquatic related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must possess and maintain the following certifications:
- National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option)
- Lifesaving Society (Swim for Life) Instructor Certification
- CPR Certification - Basic Rescuer or CPR “C” & AED
- Recognized First Aid Certification/WorkSafeBC Equivalency.
- And any one of the following: Lifesaving Instructor, Aquafit Certification (BCRPA Aquafit, CALA Aquafit Instructor), National Lifeguard Service Instructor, Lifesaving Learn to Swim Instructor, or First Aid Instructor.
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. General knowledge of office skills including keyboarding, word processing and knowledge of computer applications are also required.
